Common Questions

What People Are Asking Us

What happens during a private session?

During a private session first we will have a discussion about your training goals and your dogs current behaviour. I will assess the dogs needs and work with you to resolve any problem behaviour and work towards your goals.

Is my dog too old to be trained?

No, older dogs can be trained too! There is no age limit on learning, although if your dog is suffering from age related injuries and/or illness, please get clearance from a vet first before beginning training. If you are wishing to train your dog as an assistance dog it is preferable if you begin training when the dog is young, otherwise they may not have a long working career.

How long will it take to train my (pet) dog?

Unfortunately I cannot give you an exact amount of time, as every dog is different and it also depends on how you as the owner implement the training at home.
Generally obedience training can be done a little bit quicker than socialisation and behaviour modification though, which can take a longer time - again depending on how the dog takes to it.

How does the Assistance Dog Training work?

We are not an assistance dog organization, nor do we provide already trained dogs for our clients. We are an individual training business. This means that we can help you to train your own dog to the assistance dog standards outlined in the DDA 1992.

We are not GHAD approved, so we can not perform a GHAD approved public access test for our teams. We can however perform our own version of a Public Access Test. While it is not government approved, it may be used in your AD folder as evidence that your dog is trained.

Each team that signs up with us will get an assistance dog training booklet/evidence folder.

To get started, fill out a new client contact form (under the book now button).
